For over five years I’ve created videos for the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. Their wonderful local and state government innovation grants reward schools, cities, townships and other government entities for outstanding programs, and it’s been my pleasure to make profile videos on the winners. I shot and edited this video about Sioux Trail Elementary in Burnsville, which is taking a unique approach to cultural competency within the school.
The Minnesota Board on Aging and Minnesota Elder Justice Center teamed up for a project on promoting awareness of the growing problem of elder abuse. They brought me in to create a video, and we were thrilled when KARE 11 news icon Diana Pierce agreed to come aboard as the spokesperson. The video is used as part of a campaign to increase focus on this devastating social problem.
Return to Community is a great service provided by the Minnesota Board on Aging, through which they help seniors who are in nursing homes come back to their own homes by arranging services that help the seniors be more independent. I first made a video about Return to Community when it won a State Government Innovation Award in 2015, and since then I’ve worked directly with the Board on Aging to spotlight more success stories in this heart-warming program.
The Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota hired me again this year to create videos for their Local Government Innovation grant program. They reward schools, cities, townships and other government entities for outstanding, innovative programs, and they bring me into create videos to promote each program. I shot and edited this video on Wright County, which created a unique alternative to out-of-school suspension of students.
The Sony FS7 camera has arrived and it is proving to be a very impressive camera. The highlights of this camera are its ability to shoot in 4K (UHD) as well as HD, 14 stops of dynamic range, 10-bit internal recording to robust codecs, and 180fps slow motion capabilities that can be engaged or disengaged at the touch of a single button. I’ve used it on a few shoots already and am very happy with it.
