The challenge is…

Capture the audience’s eyes with the images and their minds with the story. And watch the clock. And the budget. Be kind – make things easy for the nervous person on camera for the first time, and smooth for pros who’ve done this for decades. Be reliable – be beyond reliable. Track the sun, predict background noise. Sweat the small stuff. Sweat it again. Keep five things in mind at once. And have one of them be gratitude, because not everyone is blessed with a job this beautiful.

Kevin McKeever

I’m a Minneapolis-based director of photography who often travels for shoots around the region and far beyond. I work closely with clients on small to mid-size productions, whether it’s as a lone cameraman, assembling a full crew or working with your crew. I’m an owner-operator of Sony FX6/FX3 cameras, as well as lighting/grip/audio packages. I offer 25+ years of experience in film and video to clients for documentary, broadcast/cable, corporate and commercial projects. I’ve been nominated for a regional Emmy and have won awards from film festivals and the Minnesota Historical Society.
